Rules and Guidelines

ELIGIBILITY

 

  • This competition is open to all undergraduate students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), SEGi University, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), UCSI University (UCSI), INTI International College Subang, Sunway University and  Sunway College.

COMPETITION ROUNDS

 

  • The competition will be carried out in two rounds which are the preliminary round and final round.

  • Preliminary round: Participant submits a video recording of 3 minutes video, which will be reviewed by a panel of judges.

  • Final round: The TOP 10 participants give an impromptu speech live at Tan Yew Sing Auditorium, IICS.

 

PRELIMINARY ROUND: RULES AND GUIDELINES

 

  • All registered participants of IUPSC 2025 prepare and submit a recorded video on the topic, ‘Your Ideal Smart City’

  • The duration of the presentation should not be more than 3 minutes.

  • The video should be uploaded on YouTube as public or unlisted video.

  • In the presentation, maintain consistent eye contact and speak clearly with appropriate expressions and gestures.

  • Participants may include visuals, such as slides, posters, a unique background, or objects, that can strengthen the message in the video.

  • Participants are not allowed to state their institution name throughout the video, or they will be disqualified.

  • Ensure that the top half of your body is visible throughout the video.

  • The video submitted must be the original work of the participant and is not plagiarized from other sites either locally or internationally.

  • The video submitted should not be used previously in other competitions.

  • Submissions should be sent to the committee by 6 June 2025.

  • Finalists will be notified via email by 25 June 2025.

FINAL ROUND: RULES AND GUIDELINES

  • 12 participants will be selected for the final round.

  • Participants are to be in formal attire.

  • Each participant delivers an impromptu speech of 3 minutes in front of 3 expert judges and the audience. No use of visual aids is expected.

  • Topics will be picked on the day of competition.

  • Each participant has 5 minutes to prepare.

  • Detailed rules and regulations will be briefed on the day of competition.

  • The ceremony will be held on 5 July 2025 at Tan Yew Sing Auditorium, IICS

  • Winners will receive attractive prizes, trophies and certificates of appreciation.

  • The judges’ decision is final.
